Fundraising Copywriter: Direct Response,
Web Copy and
Social Media Marketing Specialist
It's only fair ... if we're going to be doing business, you'll want to know a little about
me. So here it goes ...
I'm a professional fundraising copywriter with more than 20 years of industry experience
reporting to CEOs, CFOs, EVPs and VPs. Because I live not far from New York City, my career has spanned
several sectors: advertising, real estate, banking, health care and communications. Through the
years I've come to appreciate the mindset of key decision makers and strategic players.
Early in my career
I spent three years in Monte Carlo, Monaco, working for an international nonprofit Christian organization.
This experience opened my eyes to the needs of people in third-world countries and sparked an awareness of how
citizens in other nations view Americans. I came home with a greater compassion for those less fortunate
as well as a broadened understanding of how the global community interacts.
My interest in
writing surfaced while working for the Australia & New Zealand Banking Group in New York City. My
supervisor asked me to edit the in-house bi-monthly newsletter. The newsletter not only became a popular
"read" among my coworkers and superiors, but also served to increase staff morale and pride in the firm.
This experience nurtured a budding interest in learning to use the power of the written word to motivate and
persuade others to take action.
I hold a Bachelor
of Science degree in Business Management (magna cum laude) from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison,
NJ. In addition, I studied with professional copywriters at the American Writers & Artists Institute
in Delray Beach, Florida.
My ongoing
educational credentials include the Direct Marketing Association's Advance Copywriting Certification as well as
numerous specialized courses directed to Web Copywriting, B2B Copywriting, and Social Media
Marketing. In addition, I am
a Certified
Virtual Event Specialist.
But all work and
no play makes Lois a dull gal, so as time allows, I pursue a love of wildlife, nature and

I have also served
as president of my local camera club and editor of its monthly newsletter. Under my direction, our
first-time entry in a nationwide newsletter competition won an Honorable Mention. As an avid participant
in our monthly photographic competitions I honed my basic photographic skills. If you have a photographic

When not out
snapping wild critters, or sitting behind my computer creating copy, our two cats, Stormy and Scuffer, keep us
company. They make sure our household remains on a sane keel. They--and all the kitties
that preceded them--have taught my husband and me to take an active role in the health and wellbeing of our
four-legged friends. Since they cannot speak for themselves, they need a voice only we humans can
express.
